Senior Pastor Phil Larsen
I was born in Windom, Minnesota, where my dad served as a Lutheran pastor. When I was five, we moved to Idaho before moving to Seattle. I graduated from Shorewood High School in Shoreline, Washington in 1979.
I attended Lutheran Bible Institute for two years, and then Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. I graduated from Concordia in 1983. After doing youth ministry at First Lutheran in Fargo for two years, I enrolled at Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 1989. On June 4, 1989, I was ordained into the Ministry of Word and Sacrament and I’ve served ELCA congregations in Minnesota as well as North and South Dakota.
Darcey and I met in college and married in 1991. Our life together has been blessed with three sons: Matt, Andrew and John. Music has been a part of my daily life as far back as I can remember, and I’ve been a part of school, college and church choirs my entire life. One of my hobbies is singing with the Master Chorale of Fargo Moorhead.
I was called to be senior pastor of the United in Christ Lutheran Parish and began my ministry in June 2012. I invite you to stop in for coffee and conversation, questions, or just to get to know more about the church family of the United in Christ Lutheran Parish.
